I remember the Xenia, OH tornado in the mid 1970s. Is there anyone here who was affected by it?
Cincinnati flood of 1937.
Plenty of idiots in my town seem to have forgotten history, and they just might doom us to repeat it. I live in Portland, in a wooded area of town. The 1866 fire was caused by a fireworks accident. It has been very dry almost all year. It was even on the news this morning that there is a high fire danger. My neighbors have been launching fireworks all day. Some of my neighbors like launching massive volleys, to the point of creating an instant sunrise. Consumer fireworks aren’t even legal here. I’ve seen people launch whole cases of fireworks tonight from tinder-dry fields, while drunk. Let’s not start a fifth great fire. I know it’s the 150th anniversary of the last one. We don’t need to re-enact it.
