Perhaps more of a Q for GQ than the Pit, but wouldn’t all this kind of valuable public property be tagged and properly inventoried? Particularly since, AIUI, a lot of items aren’t actually in the White House at any given time, but rotated into and out of storage. Surely all this stuff must be carefully tracked! If Trump really is engaged in looting – and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least – it should be added to the long and growing list of criminal charges. In this context the White House is effectively a national museum. ---

And if they run an inventory in a couple of weeks and see things are missing, what do they do? Call Trump up in Florida and ask him if he “accidentally” packed up some artworks? He’ll deny it. Normally, that would be the end of the trail. No judge would issue a search warrant in a case like this. And most criminals would be smart enough to sell stolen artifacts quietly. But this is Trump we’re talking about. He’ll hang the stolen paintings in the lobby at Mar-a-Lago. ---

Where’s he gonna go? Mar-a-Lago isn’t zoned for permanent living and the wealthy neighbors don’t want him. Maybe one of his golf resorts until those get foreclosed to pay off a fraction of his debts? Saudi may fund him but won’t take him in. He’s pissed of Chairman Xi. I guess that leaves Mother Russia??? ---

No, it hasn’t. Trump controls an unknown(but not insignificant) number of right wing wahoos willing to fuck up this country for him. If Russia takes him in, they will pretty much be in control of a destructive force already imbedded in this country. Look at all the money Russia will save on training and embedding agents. ---

Unfortunately, I can’t help but hear “Citizen Trump” as some sort of euphemistic name for a dictator. It makes me think of thoughtcrime-style dystopia. ---

The people who have been paying him off for these last four years will no longer have any use for him. And without a source of outside income, he’s not going to have the money to keep an entourage of sycophants around him. He’s pissed off the deplorables by denouncing them after their Capitol riot. In six months, Trump will be asking the agents in his Secret Service detail if they want to hang out after their shift is done and play some video games with him or something. ---
