I grew up in a town with one stoplight, or when we were at my parents farm-house, where my mom grew up, it was about 5 miles either way to a stoplight, but not too far out. In the past few years, for college, I have lived in a dorm, an apartment downtown, and now, the downstairs of a house that is away from campus and in a “nicer” area of town. My university is not in a large city, but compared to where I came from, it is. I will admit, I miss the space of living out in the country, and when I finish my degree, we plan on looking at houses back in that area. That’s 2 years, not 5…but it being one of the only county school districts in Ohio, there is the chance of not getting a teaching job in the area, in which case we will be looking outside of the Athens area or near the university here but maybe out in the county a little ways.
