In a pitiful attempt to emulate **glee** , I decided to try my hand at blogging a game to show a non-hyper liberty bell strategy. (no offense **glee** , I’m in awe of your successes).

1492 (turn 1/ introduction)

1 Soldier and 1 Pioneer in a caravel.

Pressing F2 brings up the European Docks, there’s a Seasoned Scout and two Indentured Servants.

1492 - 1502

1492

Sail due west. Land sighted slightly to the SW. Looks snowy with a crab resource and evidence of a native settlement close by.

1493
Landfall - Tobacco to the NW
Send Caravel back to Europe to buy scout off the dock

1494

Meet Incas. Friendly. Tiwanaku and Cotton to the SW. Keep cotton resource in mind for future expansion.
Fur resource to the south

1495-1496

A little exploring. Buy scout and head back to New world.

1497
Found Quebec NW of tobacco resource. A ruin and another “goody hut” both close by.

1498
Goody hut disappeared by being within Quebec’s radius. Note for future.
Quebec not such a good food location. Cotton to north, ore in town, tobacco to the south, fur all around. Pioneer collecting
lumber.
Begin dock in Quebec.
Notice a Brave to the NW. Looks like I built on an isthmus.
Solider gets 74 GP from ruin.
Scout makes landfall near “original” crab resource

1499-1500
Solider finds Cuzco to the NW of Quebec. Caravel follows the coast south.
Scout enters Tiwanaku. 108 Gold. Expert Farmer.

Pretty darn annoying to keep switching to Notepad to record this stuff! Please respond and let me know you’re reading.

Pioneer changing from lumberjacking to carpentering. Really need that dock to start bringing in fish
Cuzco in need of guns. Expert fisherman. NO GP!! ☹

Set rancher to fishing, move pioneer back to lumberjacking. Servant to off to learn expert fisherman
Soldier gets 59 from Tiiis Tseba. Need Tools. Expert Farmer

1515
Decide to send soldier back toward Quebec to found a new colony
King takes his commission on the treasure train and I get 237 GP
Kituwah gives 534 GP!!! I LURRRVE the Cherokee. Expert Tobacco planter; needs guns

1516-1518
Scout finds 384 GP in burial grounds north of Kituwah! Continues North and east
Buy guns and tools in europe. Head back to New World
Servant begins learning expert fisherman at Cuzco

1519-1520
Scout meets Tupi. Sy Arra NE of Kituwah. Gives Experience. Needs cigars, expert cotton farmer. Ruin N of Sy Arrah gives
experience
Expert fisherman already! Head back to Quebec.
Warehouse complete. start building church

Weird game. Not usually the way I play. Much more of a north-south map (with me being at the far south) than I’m used to.

Good luck! 🙂

I think that a ‘goody hut’ which falls into your Cultural area (i.e. 1498) still yields a result.
Probably it doesn’t count as being visited by a Scout (which is more favourable).

I’m surprised your early Native Villages didn’t give any result - was there not a map or experience points? (Especially since your Scout got promoted!)

Glad to see the usual suspects!

The scout might have gotten XP, but it wasn’t clear. No “our warriors will show you…” or whatever that phraseology is. Definitely no maps.

and the Sioux settlement of Teton

Rancher starts carpentering and fisherman starts fishing.

Soldier builds Montreal NW of Quebec and NE of Cuzco. Pay Aztecs scandalous sum of 430 to build. I figure I’ll need the

Looks like most of main contintent is now explored. Will load scout on caravel for island exploration soon.

1573-1575

ever recall buying ore from Europe.

It’s interesting reading this, which I wasn’t sure about when I was doing mine. 😕 Thanks. 🙂

Do you have any theories why the King wouldn’t convey your Treasure in 1553?

How is your Rebel Sentiment doing?

First of all, glad it’s interesting. Your’s certainly was.

You just made me think of why the king may not have offered to transport the treasure. It was in Montreal, which is a port, but not my “capital.” That’s the best possibility I can think of.

If I recall, it’s around 18% in Quebec, 4 or so in Montreal (should be going up fast now), and 0 in the other two. It is liberty bell time.

I doubt I have much time tonight (election coverage) or ability (minor surgery tomorrow) to play more soon. But I’ll be back at it.

Thanks - and my ‘1599’ game is reaching a conclusion…

I might try a sample game to test if you can only send Treasure Trains home from your first Port.

Good luck with the operation. 🙂

May I ask what your populations are?

The King seems to have a lot of troops and I wonder if that’s because you have to convert a lot of Colonists to Rebels…

I’m guessing you’ll declare Independence about 1675.

Quebec is 17, Montreal 14, Guadelupe 9, Cayenne 7

I’m going to start really laying in guns and horses soon, and start building cannon. I’m not as optimistic on the early date of revolution. I’m thinking 1685-1690.
