I was watching Fox. They were, to my surprise, covering the verdict as absolutely straight news. Jonathan Turley was in fact pointing out that Trump doomed himself by not appearing. Moreover, his case before an appeal court would be extremely weak. Turley just said that any other candidate would never be seen again, but Trump is in an impregnable bubble. I have to agree that has base will act exactly that way.
