Civilian casualties in war up from 10% to 90% from World War1 to the Gulf War

Well, I think it hasn’t. Just because some specific conflicts seem to show it trending that way doesn’t mean it did trend that way in ALL conflicts over that time period. In other words, your data – even assuming it’s accurate as presented – does not even attempt to show trends “from 1945 to 2003.” Instead it compares several distinct figures from specific confilcts and leaves all the others out.

If we’re talking percentages, I’d be more interested in comparing civilian casualties to total number of civilians living in the country where the war is taking place. My guess is that number has dropped over the years.
