There is also [a red version of Rhode Island clam chowder](http://www.eastcoastgourmet.com/blog/rhode-island-chowder-recipe/). It’s not what I think of as “Rhode Island clam chowder” without any further modifier, though.

I ddnt know about the red version! But I agree, unless otherwise modified, it’s the clear stuff.
