Clarence, you bad bad bad thang. How happy you made me

I’ve been looking for a young one for years. I know where and how they nest. They hide well. Alas, I’ve only ever found empty nests.

Something tells me you might enjoy Bernd Heinrich’s Ravens In Winter. A scientist with a very strong Small Animal Field for corvids – ravens and crows.

Poor Clarence. He’s all wet. I tried to dry him some but he wouldn’t have it. His bucket house has moved inside the garage. I put new bedding in it. I guess he’ll dry out by morning if he stays in.

Crow mamas use you to frighten their nestlings. “Hide, children, hide! The Beck is gonna get 'cha!”

And what else???

Yer a regular Elly Mae Clampett, Beck.

Are you sure that was his tail?

Yes, yes I am.:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

We got a new stranger on the deck. A solid black cat with green eyes.
Clarence has taken a shine to this stranger.
Inter-species attraction is kinda weird to watch.:open_mouth:

Prediction: In a short while, strange black cat will be a stranger no longer. He will be checked out at the vet, groomed, fed, and, knowing what’s good for him, will hang around. He will comprise the next chapter in “Beck’s Menagerie of Critters”, soon to be a major motion picture, featuring cameo appearances by Clarence the Domesticated O’possum, still pretending to be wild but luxuriating in Cheerios and Beck-scritches.

Ooh, sounds like the one I lost a couple of years ago. He was Vienna’s best friend, and the Second Best Cat Ever, after her. Bright blue-green eyes.

They are in said ‘bucket’ home together.
It’s so sweet.
This cat has panache. Sorry @panache45 , couldn’t help myself.
What was your black cats name! Can I use it?

(I hope it’s ‘Bean’)

Paris.

I had a black cat named Rose. She died in 2001 so her name has been free for 20 years.

My black cat’s name was Halloween. He loved the family but hated strangers. We would generally put him in a room with the door closed when we had guests. The most hated one was my friend Dennis. Halloween’s mission in life was to kill and eat Dennis.

Hey?
I’m brilliant.

Genius, I tell you what!!

My new black cat with green eyes has remained overnight. She(?) Slept in Clarences bucket home with him. I know, I know. I’m not judging.

But thanks to @panache45 and my over large Melon head, said black cat, with a fringe-y tail that’s permanently in a question marks new name is…

*HARICOT.

:face_with_hand_over_mouth: Perfect.

(* french for bean)

I totally knew this would happen (see my post #27)! Another critter apparently now established at chez Beckdawrek. Maybe at this point you can get a federal grant for running … I dunno, something – a nature preserve? A humane society for strays and tame possums?

Bless you, Beck. The joy you get from these animals is exceeded only by the joy they get from you.

Now all she needs is Bigfoot, and her collection will be complete!

Now that, I want. :flushed:

You will be rubbing the tummy of the bigtoe yet :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
