Hee! I just remembered back when I worked at a garage. I was working with this guy Jason and some other guys were hanging out (Saturday afternoon shift) and we were joking around with another guy about getting rid of them. The first guy said, “we should get rid of those guys.” Jason says, “I’m on the brute squad!” The guy doesn’t respond, so I say, “You are the brute squad!” Jason said, "_Thank you!_ I was waiting for someone to finish that! ---

Funny, just yesterday I was just watching the DVD commentary with author William Goldman. Goldman said that originally, Reiner had Falk play his final “As you wish” line as a more lump-in-the-throat emotional ending. That didn’t work, so they reshot it as something more subdued. ---

Watch Westley switch sword hands in his fight with Inigo, right after he says “I’m not left handed either.” It happens very fast and it’s **SO** well done. I don’t think I caught it until about the fifth time I watched it. Or, it could be that I’m abysmally slow-witted… ---

The only movies (I mean, of course, grown up movies. My kids have, oh, thousands) I own on video are: The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump. Hubby has Saving Private Ryan and Braveheart. But I have two movies on my ‘must-buy’ list, these being The Princess Bride and The Green Mile. The first time we say TPB was in a theater, and I thought, who could fail to love this movie? It’s got action, adventure, romance, comedy, satire, everything! You know, I’m not sure which nuances I picked up on after the 10th time I watched it, but this is one movie that never fails to bring me great pleasure. One of the things I especially appreciate about it is that it is family-friendly. my kids love it, too! The first time they saw it, they went around for days afterwards, saying, ‘and wuv, twuuuue wuv. . .’ and cracking up! Just last week, hubby was trying to fix a computer problem, and it wasn’t responding the way it should have been. Probably three times, he said, ‘this is impossible’ after the third time, I said ‘I do not think that word means what you think it means’, and we both giggled! ---

If you notice Inigo’s scabard hangs on his left side. Making it perfectly obvious to Westley that Inigo is right handed. Which is why he fought him left handed. Since Westley’s scabard hung behind him, Inigo could not know that Westley was righthanded. This IMHO is the most rewatchable, is that a word??, in movie history ---

When my sister got married, she arranged to have the priest start his homily with “Mawwiage… is what bwings us together today”. There were about 40 people at the wedding, with my family and about 3 others being the only ones laughing at this. The priest (a close friend of the groom) wasn’t sure if he should put an in-joke in a sermon, but my dad convinced him that my sister and her husband just didn’t care if no-one else found it funny. My favourite line is still “Life _is_ pain, princess. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something.” ---

Said it before and I’ll say it again: the best evidence that the copyright laws need to be overhauled is the way the damnable Morgenstern estate keeps preventing Goldman from translating \Buttercup’s Baby\. Curse them! Terrific film, too. ---

One of my favorite lines…Inigo and Fezzik are looking for the Pit of Despair…the Albino is there with his wheelbarrow \*Inigo: “Fezzik, jog his memory.” thump…albino falls to the floor Fezzik: “I think I jogged him too hard”.\* It makes me giggle…about as much as the “Anybody want a peanut”. ---

For more in depth research I _strongly_ recommend William Goldman’s book _Which Lie Did I Tell?_. Strongly as in you don’t know what you’re missing. It talks about how he came up with the idea and what it was like making the movie, as well as a bunch of stuff about other movies he wrote, including _Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid_. **Stringy** , a friend of mine swears if she ever gets married, she’s going to have the priest do the same thing. I am definitely going to have to watch this movie again soon. I wonder if the library has it. CJ ---

At my wedding, my maid of honor (my younger sister) waited until the minister did his little blessing thing at the beginning and everyone was somber and attentive. Then, she whispered JUST loud enough for me to catch… “Mawidge…” Later, the minister said to my new husband and me, “I’ve seen brides cry before at their weddings, but this is the first wedding I’ve performed where the bride was giggling through the whole thing.” ---

Oh yeah, I forgot to add one of my favorite parts-- the “To the pain” stall. Westly: WRONG! Your ears you keep and I’ll tell you why. So that every shreik of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out “dear God, what is that thing?” will echo in your perfect ears. That is what “the pain” means. It means I leave you in anguish. Wallowing in freakish misery forever. Humperdink (after being tied to the chair by --the princess?: You were bluffing. I _knew_ you were bluffing. He was bluffing. ---
