To be fair, a lot of people do it. It’s somewhat encouraged. It takes a while to realize the nuances of when to do it, and when to not. I’m not sure I even have it down, and am currently defaulting to not bothering.

But yeah: don’t do it with an apology unless you make it clear that it’s a joke. If that had even just had a smiley at the end, I think it would seem less insulting.

Kinda reminds me of the joke about about the guy who walks into the pub and sits down next to the sad fellow nursing a beer by himself.

What seems to be troubling you sir?

Well, It’s like this. You see this pub? I built it with my own two hands. Took me two years of hard work. Do they call me “Joe the pub builder?” nope.

You see that stone wall outside? I built it myself. One hundred feet all by hand. But do they call me “Joe the wall builder?” nope.

But get caught fucking one goat…
