# "Clear and Present Danger" tech question

Y’know, the Tom Clancy novel. I was just wondering…

_unboxed SPOILERS below_

How much did the “cellulose encased laser-guided bomb” (I _think_ it was a GBU-12 or a GBU-16, but I don’t have the book with me.) weigh? I’d assume that the unusual casing would have reduced the normal weight a bit, but I just don’t know for sure.

Can anyone help me out?

IIRC it was a modified 2000 lb bomb. Without the iron casing it only weighed half as much, so 1000 lbs of Octol and cellulose.
