# Clearance under HWBB

I’ve been unable to find this info- most of what I find is about electric baseboards.

I’m planning to install a hardwood floor in a room, and it has cast iron hot water baseboards. I pulled up the old carpet, and the subfloor leaves just about 1 inch (maybe 1 1/8) clearance to the bottom of the baseboard. A 3/4 inch floor will leave about a 1/4 inch gap. There isn’t much I can do to raise the baseboards, and of course the carpet just about touched the bottom of them.

My question is whether or not 1/4 inch clearance will interfere with the convection (though, it should actually be an improvement).
