One of many duplicate sites for Scowcroft, Poppy’s NSA, blasting Junior’s unilateralism just a few days ago. Poppy himself has kept in the background, but I’ll keep looking for a cite, which will by necessity by second-hand. You won’t find anything substantive straight from him, of course, just polite generalities like the one you just cited - it isn’t possible for him to say anything else, but it’s possible for him not to support Junior either. I disagree that he wouldn’t add anything; he’d certainly add an air that the WH is under adult supervision, with experienced and competent advisors.
Clinton always had tremendous success rallying black voters in the days before an election, and the Kerry campaign should be sending him to speak in districts of swing states with a high percentage of African American voters.
On another note, the probability of any American being selected as U.N. Secretary General in the near future is about equal to the probability of the Orioles pulling out a World Series victory this year.
I don’t remember Dad campaigning for Junior in '00, so unless that memory is wrong, I don’t think there is much to be made of his not doing so in '04. In fact, Dad seems to have consciously kept as low a profile as possible for the last 4 years. I was never a big fan of Dad, but I give him a lot of credit for that-- shows he has a lot of class.
Kerry’s drawing crowds of 100,000+ people, and you say he’s dull?
Step away from the Fox News water cooler, buddy…
Now now, your partisan is showing
I think part of the reason that Kerry is drawing such large crowds is that this election is highly contested with a hint of bitterness. I’m a Kerry supporter and I think he is only a little better than Gore. Compared to Clinton (he’s Jimmy Carter with a fox attitude), Kerry looks practically dead.
