Something well known by anyone who has paid attention to Democratic politics already knows - including Bill Richardson. There is a reason he was never tapped as VP.

Do you have a cite for this usage, by Latin Americans?

I have heard “Anglo” used, by people whose primary language _was_ English, and they didn’t mean themselves. Nor did they mean, for example, black Americans.

IME, it is clearly an ethnic descriptor, equivalent to “Latino.”

Is it, though?

Sure, it’s possible the Clinton campaign is behind all of this. But is it possible that some individual, acting on his own initiative, surprised her campaign by leaking the unknown-to-them Billy Bush tape? And that Anderson Cooper – acting on _his_ own initiative – pressed Trump three times on live television until he got that flat ‘no’; and that Clinton’s campaign staff, who’d never heard of Rachel Crooks or Jessica Leeds, was as surprised as anyone else when the two of 'em came forward?

Again, maybe that was all them – and maybe they were behind the leak of his tax returns before this, and maybe they’re waiting to release yet another bombshell next week. But AFAIK, they’re not claiming that; and AFAIK, there’s no evidence of it.

I think that it could definitely be offputting - not that it’s going move too many people away this election. Imagine an email titled “needy Black people” discussing which Black politicians they were trying to woo.

Sure, the journalists were doing their job – and I certainly don’t think Cooper was taking cues from anyone except journalism 101 to press Donald on sexual assault. But considering the timing, I think it’s reasonable to suspect that campaign operatives may be involved to some degree.

And I don’t think this is a bad thing. This is part of the reason for long political campaigns – to make sure as much as we can that we won’t have a President with a history of terrible behavior which could mar their effectiveness or even result in blackmail. So if Clinton’s campaign operatives found these women months ago, and worked with them to hold back their stories until the “right” time, I’m totally fine with that, as long as they are telling the truth (and I have no reason to believe that they aren’t).

Yeah, this is probably a combination of largely uncoordinated efforts from multiple parties. Trump would clearly like to believe that it’s a single actor, or a vast conspiracy to discredit him. But when there’s just so much dirt to dig up on Trump, much of which he has gleefully put on public record over the years, it doesn’t take nearly as much effort to sustain a steady stream of damaging news.

True. But it’s also used colloquially in San Antonio to also mean “white people”. When somebody tells me “You anglos have very stiff parties compared to the ones we have”, they aren’t referencing language.

That may be true in Spain. It is not how the word is used in the United States.

A lot of the relationships are subtle when it comes to defining ‘the Clinton campaign’. The various leaked emails among her circle tend to show that. And people act specifically on behalf of candidates they prefer even with no indirect link to the campaign, choosing the timing themselves. For example I don’t think the Trump campaign is directing Russian intel/Wikileaks efforts v Clinton: they are trying to achieve damaging timing v Clinton for their own reasons.

It is strange the 11 yr old Bush tape didn’t surface till now. But Trump being asked about it was natural, Cooper just doing his job to press until he got a denial from Trump of actions, then not strange that the combination of the tape and Trump’s denial of actions would make accusers to the contrary come forward when they didn’t earlier. So as far as the sexual misconduct complex of Trump-negative events, the timing of the video leak seems possibly deliberate, but the rest of the domino’s fell naturally.

The tax return timing is also ‘interesting’, but untraceable letter the media outlet itself apparently didn’t sit on.

In writing and in English? No. In actual, 3D, outside the Internet life? My experience in Miami, Houston, and in projects that included Americans in Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico… Hell, I’ve told before the story of that black student who came over when I was tutoring two Cuban-Americans, we’d shifted to Spanish and shifted back to English as soon as we noticed him; he said we didn’t need to, we said we absolutely did, it would not be polite to stay in Spanish because “you’re Anglo, right?” “ANGLO?” “Well, yeah, sorry, to us it means you speak English and not Spanish… it’s not about where your grandparents were from” “Oh man, my grandmother will love this! She marched with Rosa Parks!”

Other people who were called Anglo by people from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Peru or Mexico in my presence happened to have ancestry or have been born in Vietnam, Taiwan, or be Nth generation Chinese-American. My coworkers from India were also Anglo, but I think it never happened to come up in their presence. The Hispanic part of the team included Colombian, Argentinian, Venezuelan, Dominican, Cuban-American…

You are commingling two “anglos”. The Anglo of Anglos and the Anglo of Hispanics are different ones. Anglos refer to ancestry, Hispanics to language.
**RickJay** , my work history actually involves more time in Latin American environments than in Spain.
