@cuauhtemoc: There might be some of what you say behind giving Ivanka a pass but I would think another obvious group of reasons is a) she kind of got dragged into this b) people just expect kids to stand by their parents and c) she simply seems like less of an asshole than her dad. ---

Agree there’s some apologism going on. Or at least giving the pretty girl the benefit all pretty girls get. Their shit stinks less than others. Maybe not zero, but less. So far, she’s been the reserved one in public. Trump Jr. had been given most of a pass until a couple days ago when he came out fully in favor of sexual assault as a rich man’s birthright. That pretty quickly swept away any thought that he might be less evil than dear old Dad. Still more controlled than Dad, but no less evil. Ivanka has yet (AFAIK) to say something really egregious. If/When that changes her fall from grace will be quick. In some sense it’s good for her that most of Dad’s recent controversy has been about sex crimes. As a woman she’s sort of got a pass to A) not do them, and B) not talk about them. If Dad goes back to shouting about furriners or brown people or shooting up polling places or something and then she makes some full-throated comment she’ll be outing herself pretty thoroughly. With a swift and widespread reaction. By the noisy standards of the Trump clan by and large she’s being the personification of “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” Whether asked to talk about Dad or Clinton or anything else, she’s pretty much just mumbled. ---

I am not inclined to forgive Ivanka, and I hope the entire family loses their fortune. With privilege comes great responsibility. They’ve abdicated these responsibilities and seriously abused their privilege. Toss them all into the trash bin of history. That being said, Trump himself isn’t really the problem. The deplorables and those who try to use them for political gain are the real problem here until they are cast to the fringes of society. Right now they’ve been legitimized, conned by political opportunists into believing they have a platform. ---

Likely, in the beginning, he had her convinced to get on the ride and maybe next time he’d put HER in the White House. He said as much, several times. They won’t release any tapes because if Donny knows how to do onE thing right, it’s to seal up confidentiality agreements. I’d wager every contractor he shorted was convinced to sign one before they’d get ANY settlement. I’m pretty sure it’s the one thing he’s got sewed up tight. ---

As for his call for Clinton to be drug-tested for the third debate—and his statement that he’s willing to be tested, too: this could be the nation’s _only_ chance to see a reputable physician examine Trump. Clinton should insist on a full exam for each of them, not merely a urine test. Perhaps the nine living former or current Surgeons General (since 1998–there may be more living SG) could jointly nominate a pair of Las Vegas physicians (one Dem and one Rep) to give the debate participants thorough exams. ---

I read an article today that said that scorched earth was exactly what he is doing. His strategy, to the extent he has one, is to make the millenniums and other unlikely voters so disgusted with the entire electoral process that they sit out the election. Leaving only the most committed voters, which he thinks are his. ---
