I’m also hearing that Trump was rushed off the stage due to a false shout of gun by someone in the audience; no gun was found on the man they escorted out of the rally. I’d enjoy some shaudenfreude if he was another Black Trump supporter who was wrongly identified as a thug. Even if it was a protester, it sure is interesting to see how Trump’s entourage reacts to such discontent. It seems he’s put his Secret service detail on edge. I can only imagine their opinion of this responsibility. ---

The latest report is that the man who was ushered out of a Trump rally was a protester holding up a sign “Republicans Against Trump.” People tried to pull down the sign, which led to a scuffle and the erroneous “gun” comment, leading to Trump’s removal from the stage. The man had no gun, was questioned, and has been released. ---

I imagine the Secret Service details are very much on edge this last weekend. Both candidates have a lot of quick stops around the country. Keeping them safe isn’t easy. Very glad Trump’s scare apparently was a false alarm. ---

Fair enough. I don’t know who yelled gun; whether it was another bystander or a jittery agent. I just thought that rushing Trump off the stage was dramatic, given the real story seems to be that no weapon was seen and nobody was physically threatening Trump. It’s a far cry from how protesters are usually responded to, IMHO. It’s almost like they are expecting a shooter to show up eventually. And you are right - the guy is white. ---

But, hecklers aren’t unusual in politics; the secret service rushing the speaker off stage is. ---

I’m confident shouting **“GUN”** at the top of my lungs while standing in the audience at an appearance by anyone under Secret Service protection would get a similarly energetic response. In the 8th year of the first Black President, we should all take a moment and appreciate _just how amazingly good at their job_ the US Secret Service truly is. I think it is fair to assume that nearly everyone who hates President Obama has a gun, and the Secret Service has prevented all those people from accomplishing their most fervent wish. Seriously, these men and women have proven themselves to be incredibly competent, and are a living rebuke to all those who disrespect agencies of the federal government. By the way, I’m in Missouri, an “Open Carry” state. All you have to do is put up a sign that you cannot bring a weapon into the place. It’s been an absolute boon to the sign business. ---
