And, of course, he thinks it’s funny. That’s always the dodge, isn’t it? It’s funny. If you don’t like it, it’s because you can’t take a joke, so you’re some insecure asshole.
Of course, that’s also typically their biggest weakness. I would _love_ to be in the room when Trump hears a joke made at _his_ expense.

The polls I’ve seen so far suggest Hillary got anywhere from 57 to 47 percent of viewers to agree that she won the debate. Anywhere from 34 to 42 percent of viewers to say the same for him. If we average it out that’s about 52 to 38 percent in favor of Hillary.
This is purely my own unscientific take but what strikes me about these numbers is the fact that this was probably a stronger debate performance – more along the lines of what I was expecting in the first encounter from Trump. In my view, I thought it was a draw in the sense that Trump, though at times downright desperate and incoherent, succeeded in making Hillary visibly uncomfortable and he (and the moderators) made her squirm a bit in answering some of the questions. I thought Trump looked confident and assertive - maybe a bit over the edge at times but he was generally more in command tonight.
And yet, he still only has maybe 38 percent of the those who actually watched believing that he won. I may be off, but I have felt that this is probably reflecting about the same number of people who are just die-hard, never-say-die Trumpists. And that tells me, his support in the middle has completely and utterly collapsed. Only the hyper-partisans support him now. Now the bad news is, there really are a lot of hyper-partisan, tribal voters out there in 2016. So he’s probably going to get anywhere from 27 to 40 percent of the vote. But I’m guess above 40 percent at this point is almost in wishful thinking territory at this point. It’s more likely that he will continue his downward spiral. It may not be as much as we’d like and we might well end up fretting at just how many of his faithful are still actually coming out to vote for him. But I suspect that his days over 40 percent are probably finished for good.
My point here is, I think Trump is left with his bag of deplorables. He didn’t add anything last night, and he probably didn’t even make a dent in Hillary’s support. Barring just an unprecedented set of circumstances – which cannot be entirely discounted given the bizarre nature of this election – I think Hillary’s got this. But we still gotta get out there and work the vote.

That’s an excellent article. Trump once again lives up to the label “short-fingered vulgarian”. The interesting thing that doesn’t seem to be much talked about is that his initial defense of the comments – “it’s just words” – implies that he never did those things. But worse, when Anderson Cooper quite properly pointed out that what he claimed he did was sexual assault and asked him point-blank if had in fact done the things that he bragged about, he twice tried to deflect the question, and eventually said “no, I did not” in a very quick and unconvincing way. The sad thing is that if and when he is exposed for this lie by women who may come forward, it will just be another lie among thousands, and it won’t matter to his base. And of course in the typical classy Trump style, any woman who does this will be accused of being a liar and a skank and the staff will be directed to dig up all possible dirt on her.

I think it’s worth pointing out that the entirety of aurora maire’s quote is from the buzzfeed article and the National Review article itself takes only mild sideswipes at Trump. It’s mainly about how Obama was kind of a dick at the 2011 correspondents dinner though NR has been #NeverTrump for the entire election basically.

Yeah, the man only bragged about sexual assault and demonstrated a history of treating women like objects. We can’t expect the right-wing media to go after him _too_ harshly for that, not when there’s an uppity [del]Negro[/del] Liberal off being President in front of TV cameras.
One _does_ have to maintain balance, after all.

How is that a reaponse to my post in any way? National Review has gone after Trump. They did a whole “against Trump” issue. I was just pointing out that article wasn’t really one of them.

It would be nice if we lived in a world where everybody recognized this as just a sign of mental instability, and not as true testimony of God’s word, which is how a lot of evangelicals will read it, to keep justifying voting for such an immoralist.
