I thought it was interesting that at the debate last night that Trump seemed to say he was making a point with his 3 AM tweets, namely, that if HE had been called at 3 AM, HE would have been awake to take the Benghazi phone call. Did anyone else take his (admittedly disjointed) comments that way?

Yup, that was his point precisely. If a crisis were to develop at 3:00 AM he’d be ready to jump into action because he’d already be awake, tweeting garbage at beauty queens.

Summation, as provided by this Newsweek article -

Kurt Eichenwald wrote an article discussing Benghazi and how the attack was preventable. “Someone” swiped two lines from that article, worked it into a phony email purporting to be from Sidney Blumenthal to Hillary Clinton, and released it with the latest Wikileaks info dump.
Then Russian news organization, Sputnik, immediately pounced on this fake email as evidence that Clinton and her cronies knew that Benghazi was a deliberate screw up rather than a tragic flood of events. Presumably, Sputnik knew about this phony email ahead of time, to be able to spot it so quickly in the wealth of documents. Well, “documents”.
Anyway, Eichenwald read the Sputnik piece and recognized the words supposedly written by Blumenthal as being his own work, from a piece that he had written and published earlier. He blew the whistle on this bit of disinformation from Wikileaks and Russia.
I am coming to the conclusion that Russia’s obvious attempts to disrupt our election is genuine act of war. I’m not sure what I’d do about it but I’m not inclined to just shrug it off as spy v. spy games.

Regarding this discussion of leaks, people really need to understand the significance. It literally is Russia trying to undermine confidence in US elections and accomplish some other goals (not necessarily to actually make Trump win), and it is information warfare rather than unbiased and truthful leaks.
In addition to the Eichenwald story just posted, there have been previous instances of Guccifer 2.0 leaks being faked, for example the supposed [Clinton Foundation hacked documents](http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/299236-alleged-guccifer-20-hack-of-clinton-foundation-raises-suspicions) are probably documents from the already known DCCC hack. Believing all these releases and claims without independently confirming them is a major mistake.
