The above is true if the folks running the intelligence service are idiots. If you know someone is coming, you set up SPAN or something similar on the cell tower routers that she will be hitting, divert a copy of the traffic to a storage device of your choosing and inspect it at your leasure. Since the agenda for the dignitaries is well known ahead of time, this isn’t terribly hard to setup.
Once you capture the traffic you learn everything you need to know to start serious attacks on the destination server.
If I control the media you send data across, I own your data. Period. If it is enrypted it may take a while to break but it will happen. Considering that Clintons server wasn’t secure, for example it was running a known to be broken version of SSL, I doubt the intelligence services hadn to work hard to get what they needed.

Hillary Clinton had nothing to do with the spy and his ultimate execution. Of course the fact that his case was mentioned in not surprising, Clinton was Secretary of State at the time and anything that happens, will be covered in her emails.
I always thought the guy brought it all on himself-not saying he deserved it. But he could have went about it more intelligently. He comes to the U.S, with his family still in Iran, claims to be a spy for the U.S against his homeland. Then he goes back home, recants and says he was actually pretending, and really collected information on the U.S to give to Iran.
Basically he was a double spy, or pretended to be. If you are going to defect, take your family with you. But he did not, and went back to Iran and now some years later, was executed. Pretty foolish, again not trying to sound insensitive.
Yes the fact that he was mentioned is not a surprise, it shouldn’t be a surprise that some if not most of the communications of the secretary of state with various leaders in her own department and the intelligence community not to mention the Whitehouse are extremely sensitive.
Given that someone who is qualified to be the president or even secretary of state should KNOW THAT and not communicate using insecure methods particularly when it comes to the identities of spies.
Yet she didn’t even have a classified email account let alone an unclassified one. Anyone with half a brain should know that the secretary of state will need to discuss classified and sensitive information, yet she disregarded this.
