The only reasonable thing to assume is that said member had been lurking for a long time and wanted to get this “_joke_” thing off his/her chest. But if that is correct why didn’t he/she post it in the right forum? Sounds like someone that was banned because they couldn’t take a joke. ---

Either this guy is, in actualilty, the immortal guy from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe who’s sole purpose is to insult everyone who’s ever lived, since after reading for all this time, he delurked simply to make a snotty “I don’t like the way you run the place. Conform to suit me. And you’re not funny anyway” post or He’s a Serlin/Concrete/etc returned Troll who knows exactly how to push buttons. Fenris ---

If [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=96903) is the **GQ** thread you’re talking about, nobody got banned: the thread got closed, and the reason is explained by the mod who closed it. ---

A member? got pissed off by a joke when he/she was trying to be serious about a subject dear to his/her heart. Said member? did things that all totalled together made him/her a jerk. Moderator warned member?, member? didn’t listen, member? got banned. Member? returned under new name bitching in CQ about people making jokes. Moderator closed thread almost immediately. Job well done. ---
