I had to say good-bye to my favorite jeans yesterday…worn through where I couldn’t patch them anymore. Ah, but I still have my _“Work Sucks…I’m Going Biking!”_ t-shirt from Moab, and my “official” Oscars 2000 sweatshirt. They are just presentable enough to wear when doing laundry. What items will you wear until the holes get too big? ---

I have a pair of flannel pyjamas that I’ll wear until they are in tatters. ---

My underwear. I’ve got pairs that are more than 10 years old. After my wife yells at me for a year to throw a particular pair out, the tatered remains go in the trash. ---

My “Brains of Steel” T-shirt I bought when I was taking a class at the U of Chicago. It has holes in some rather embarrassing places, and maybe someday I’ll try sewing them up or patching them. In meantime, I just don’t wear it in public without something else underneath. I’d love to just buy another one, but no luck finding one so far. ---

My Good Wear Leathers A-2 flight jacket. I dunno about the tatters part, though. I’m 41 and the thing feels like it might outlast me. ---

I was on academic exchange to the University of Minnesta in . . . _:: doing math ::_ . . . 1989. The U of M sweatshirt I bought that year is the one I’m currently wearing. It doesn’t have any holes in it, but some of the letters have worn off. It now says MI NE OTA. ---

I have a blue Embry-Riddle sweatshirt I’ve had for nigh on ten years. I had to cut off the wrist elastic because they were so frayed. I’ve worn and washed it so much it’s developed a hardened, outer cottony shell on the exterior–but it sure cuts the wind! Tripler That, and I have six RED HORSE t-shirts I will wear until I’m 95. ---

My husband got me a UCLA sweatshirt in 2002 that I still wear all the time. It’s in pretty sad shape but its my lucky charm during finals. I noticed today some of the appliquéd letters are coming off. ---

Most of my clothes fall into this category - I hate shopping and I’ll wear anything until it falls off. I’ve only got two pairs of jeans right now, since I just discovered a hole in the buttcheek of one of my favorite pairs so I’m going to have to take them out of rotation. Several of my t-shirts have odd holes along the bottom from being used to open beer bottles, so I have to wear layers underneath, but I still wear one (Whey Gourmet! Double the Isolates, Double the Flavour!) out in public all the time. I also wear clothes that were already in tatters when I got them. I steal my dad’s work jeans when they get too holey and frayed for him to wear to work anymore. I guess I just like looking like a bum. ---

I have a “San Francisco: Year of the Horse” T-shirt that I got in 1981 (though '78 was the year of the horse in question) that I still wear around the house; it’s tissue-paper-thin and sporting a full array of holes, so some might suggest it’s already in tatters. ---

I wore it pretty much constantly all four years, and it has been so patched, mended, stained and otherwise destroyed as to make my wearing of it a crime around the little woman. I’m determined to be buried in the thing. ---

almost all my clothes. I have sweatpants and a sweatshirt from grad school - so 1990. I still have a cloth belt from about 30 years ago. I still wear it on weekends. that sucker supported me through high school, university, all my China trips, and I think went on every backpacking trip I have ever taken including all my Tibet trips. It’s a bit frayed ---

There’s an ordinary pink T-shirt that I still wash, dry, wear, wash … and the holes get a little bigger on the back, but I still don’t chuck it away. Just had it a long time, and can’t see the need yet to end its days. I had a denim jacket once that I wore to rags. Looking around for another one still – it’d probably be worn until I got superannuation, and then still be there. I loved my jacket. ---

American beer bottle caps twist off, but they are nevertheless made of metal, have some crimping around the edges, and can require a good solid twist to get off. You can hurt your hand doing it (especially if you are delicate little feminine flower), and so it helps to protect your hand with a thin-ish piece of cloth. Like, say, the hem of your T-shirt.
