I don’t think all this activity is directly related to any YouTube videos. Reports of things like this initially spread due to mass hysteria. The first reports came from South Carolina where people claimed “clowns” we’re trying to lure children into wooded area near an apartment complex. Significantly, no arrests were ever made and no real evidence was found to substantiate the reports. From there reports began to pop up up in other areas of similar activity. Stories like this date back to at least 1981.
