Email This Story Phillipsburg, NJ – A New Jersey waitress says she wants to get Americans to think about what they have – and what they could lose. Marguerite Hansen has spent nearly $5,000 for two billboard messages that support keeping the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance. Both ads have an American flag background with the words, “ **I Pledge Allegiance Under God** ” in heavy black letters. The billboards sit on a highway near a mall in Phillipsburg. Hansen says she was distressed by a federal court ruling declaring the pledge unconstitutional because of the reference. Hansen says she had received letters, cards and donations ranging from five dollars to 100 dollars from residents across the region. —Gee, ya think she might have spent all that money on, I don’t know, “living her religion” by _helping people_, instead of putting up some annoying goddam billboards that aren’t going to change anyone’s mind and that only advocate a **divisible** country of fundie nutcases? ---

I don’t think most of the people in this country understand that you can still say the words “Under God” in the pledge. The ruling just officially changed it. Damnit people, why is it when I recomend to change the warning stickers on bleach to say, “BLEACH! Toxic, deadly, please drink” you get all bent out of shape. It’d cut down on the moron level in this country ---

I don’t see anybody bitching about people who spend thousands on billboards that advocate abortion, or have half naked people on them, or encourage vegetarianism, etc. It’s her money. It’s a free country, hate to tellya. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. ---

Well I’m bitching, **WV\_Woman**. I, for one, demand full naked people on my billboards. That’s the real problem with America. We do too many things halfway. The line must be drawn in the sand and we must stand together in unity, crying out “half naked no more!” In fact, I think we should change the Pledge to read “one nation, under fully naked people.” ---

Actually… I HAVEN’T SEEN **ONE** BILLBOARD THAT _ADVOCATED_ ABORTION–though I’ve seen plenty of the “gross-out” ones put up by the “pro-life” movement. ---
