CNN doesn't like the US 1st amendment

No newspaper was ever obliged by the 1st Amendment or anything else to print each and every letter to the editor.

None, yet.

It seems to imply that they want comments to be relevant to the article they’re posted on.

You know having free license to post almost anything you want on a news agency’s medium has only been a thing since about 2005, right? Before that, the only time you got viewpoints from the agency’s constituents (sic) was in letters to the editor, most of which were never printed.

An elected official has constituents. A news agency does not have constituents; it has customers, and it has stockholders.

Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I’m being repressed!

Cogency DOES require relevance, you know.

Setting aside the apparent fact that you started this thread from a position of ignorance of its central topic, it seems impossible to you that the post may have been removed because it was wildly off-topic?

Oh, no argument with that. CNN tilts so far left I’m surprised it hasn’t fallen over, so naturaaly they are totally anti-gun. A reasonable post like the one quoted was destined for the axe the second that the poster hit Send.

Finally, someone has started a thread to debate voter ID laws. It’s about damn time!!

Far left? Seriously? The very post to which you are responding says that CNN is a private corporation. CNN is a massive corporate media entity, of, by, and for the interests of the upper classes. Just like WWhiskey, if you think CNN is “far left”, or even on the left at all, you have no idea what that term means.

The post in question wasn’t about guns at all. It was about voter ID. Just sayin’.

Also, to help us calibrate the Clothahump-o-meter, if you actually believe CNN to be “far left”, would you mind identifying a news outlet you consider to be moderately left?

From Clothy’s perspective, everything is far left. I’ll bet he even finds Fox News somewhat suspect.

Why the fuck can’t we have one thread about scientific racism without you trying to derail it with immigration reform?

Occasionally I forget that in the view of many on the right wing, the real world has a liberal bias.

Every private media outlet gets to have its own editorial policy. It may be CNN’s policy to edit out stupidity. The post in question is extremely stupid and adds nothing to the debate.

Why would you have to “post reasons why you can’t restrict the right to vote” if people didn’t have the right to vote in the first place?

Burger King’s newsletter.

Phatzo, I appreciate your admitted ignorance of this topic you brought up. Seeking the truth is why some of us are here. I feel like I fall into that category. You can learn a lot by the posts displayed on this board.

Seems most are really insightful and mean well, just like the fed we all should support. When you see an organization like CNN flush the untidy ideas that are far of center, you should applaud it. Things are getting out of hand here in America with those who can’t accept the fact that really smart people, with great intentions of changing our great nation, are being tied up by those who want to repress progress.

It’s not a simple issue. It is mostly repubs, and especially, the tea party, but the media is to blame as well.

I wish there were more outlets like CNN that are taking a stand against the ignorance that is building. What are we going to do when the roads start to crumble, the schools fail even more, all while the military gets stronger and great civilizations like Russia, Bermuda, and Iran build up because of the projection of force that is all show like peacocks?

I appreciate that you want opinions to move freely, but sometimes bad opinions must be crushed like an olive in boroda’s glass.

The name of the dog is Relevance.
