CNN is starting to piss me off

No! Really? Swear, I learn somethin’ ever day around you, addy!

They’ve been pushing the “fake news” narrative a bit much lately.

Makes you wonder if they’re setting up a buffer for some sort of cover-up.

Nah, it’s the same thing as when they were complaining about bloggers or pitching campaign finance reform. The mainstream media want to be gatekeepers, deciding what you will hear.

Not that fake news isn’t a problem, but we have a 1st amendment for a reason, and anyone who thinks the founding fathers couldn’t have anticipated this problem has never read an 18th century newspaper. Fake, partisan news was the norm back then.

Not to mention that anti-Royalist propaganda could get your head separated from your shoulders … as far as I know, it’s a crime to publish in the UK that the Nazis didn’t kill any Jews during WWII …

What’s the “factual” measure of whether Trump is qualified to be President?

We seem to agree that he is over 35 years of age, a natural born citizen, and fourteen years a resident of the United States.

Are you saying that the factual reporting should say that Trump is qualified?

Any instances ? Actual instances ?

No it’s not.

This.

So David Duke, the Klan and Stormfront (real Nazis - not pretend) did not endorse Trump???

It was make believe? :smack:

Here’s a test. Name one sane individual who you think honestly believes Trump is qualified to be President (by any standard, temperament, experience, honestly, whatever). Everyone pretends he’ll be okay, but do you think anyone (even Pence) believes he’s qualified? (not constitutionally qualified, but actually suited for the job)

Your list of sane people and mine are probably not the same. I will name a person, and you’ll either concede the point or declare my example isn’t sane.

My neighbor voted for Trump and believes he’s qualified.

In terms of national figures, Newt Gingrich appears to believe he’s qualified.

Newt doesn’t believe that.
He probably thinks this:

Oliver Cromwell … the English dug up his dead body so they could execute him …

Thank you for the correction … perhaps I misheard that Holocaust Denial was prohibited in the UK …

Can I fly the Nazi Battle Flag off my front porch there like I can here?

No, that’s what I believe.

Newt, I expect, does not regard fidelity to a particular set of principles as a qualifying characteristic.

So we’re back to defending the claim that “Trump is unqualified,” is somehow a provable, objectively true statement.

I agree with the claim that Trump is unqualified, but I don’t regard the mere fact that I agree as something that transforms reasoned opinion into objective fact.

And Hillary probably thinks:

“How can I peddle more influence for cash donations to the foundation which I can then siphon off into my own bank account?”

Obviously it is an “opinion” that Trump is a disaster in every way. It is, however, an opinion that cannot be honestly refuted, or even debated. (What’s the counter-argument, Trump will make America Great Again?)

And I disagree about Newt, the man is smart, educated, and honestly conservative. He simply cannot be comfortable with Trump as POTUS.

He did not indulge in anti-royalist propaganda ( as did say, unscathed, the encyclopédistes of France; including Denis — Man will never be free until the last King is strangled with the entrails of the last priest — Diderot ), he took it to its logical conclusion and killed a King. For that he and other culprits were punished. No one was executed for that particular form of propaganda.
For other propagandas, yes, either for or against catholicism or protestantism: not for political stuff.

Holocaust Denial is illegal in many European countries, Germany, France and recently, Russia. Making speech illegal is too dangerous in the others.

Most people wouldn’t care what flag you put up, some neighbours might object — so might be better to fly it in the countryside than in North London — but not the police.

However about a decade ago some dumb fucks objected to the Imperial German Standard being erected someplace in Scotland, dunno what happened. Maybe 'cos neo-nazis in Germany used it as a substitute for the banners they really wanted which are banned in Germany ( and so the Reichskriegsflagge is less subject to hysteria ). Anyway I’ve got an Imperial German banner somewhere, and if I flew it no-one would care. Even my ancestors who fought in the First World War against Germany wouldn’t have cared much. And at the time the British, as usual, were demented with hysteria against the Hun.

No, that’s real. A swastika on a wall with Trump’s name on it could either be a hate crime or it could be an angry Clinton supporter. Remember the signs at anti-war marches of Bush with a Hitler moustache?

And people reporting harassment to the media but not the police are almost certainly bullshitting. So far the only actual violence caught on tape is against Trump supporters, or accused Trump supporters.

Maybe you’re right about Newt.

OK, substitute Rick Perry.

Just came across this: SURPRISE! CNN Makes A False Claim And Press Picks It Up

For all I know the man in question is a complete and irredeemable PoS, but the headline by CNN is a fabrication, the sort of thing one would expect from bottom shelf tabloids; how much of a failure do you have to be to be ethically on the wrong when reporting about a blipping neo Nazi?

Let me get this straight. If it was an angry Clinton supporter, it could not have been a hate crime?
