I would not at all be surprised if some of the allegations involved teenage interns or pages. Theyā€™ve been used to getting away with it for years, and now in the day and age of social media, they can no longer control the flow of information. If you consider that a lot of these congressmen have been here for years and that many of these allegations go back decadesā€¦itā€™s a log jam that needs clearing. And the ā€œfakeā€ mediaā€™s about to do the job ā€“ for real. ---

I recall the tasteful joke at the time, asking how a Congressman keeps his place while reading. ---

There was Mark Foley (R-FL) who resigned in 2006 over stuff that happened w/ male pages as far back as the 90s, but Iā€™m not remembering the stuff from the 80s. ---

I think youā€™re thinking of Dan Crane (R-Ill) and Gerry Studds (D-Mass) who both had sexual relationships with 17 year old pages. (Crane with a female; Studds with a male). Neither of them left. They were censured by the House but ran for reelection. Crane was defeated. Studds was repeatedly reelected until the late 90s. ---

I donā€™t know what the best thread is (and I really donā€™t think that we need a new thread for every elected official) but I figure we should also point out Ruben Kihuen (D-NV), who has refused calls from the leadership to resign after revelation of accusations of misconduct. [Cite](http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/nevada-democrat-accused-sexual-misconduct-resign/story?id=51599790) I think this could be an interesting test of the new zero tolerance policy, since Kihuen was elected with 48% of the vote in a district previously held by a Republican. ---

Iā€™m not surprised at all. Retroactively turning what was long considered a perk of the power associated with the office with no significant consequences into a career ending action, will catch a lot of people whoā€™ve help themselves to the cookie jar over the years. I think the allegations will be fairly evenly distributed across parties (being a horndog is a bipartisan) but will include generally more Republicans than Dems just due to the fact that 63% of the males in congress are Republican. At the end of the day though it may be that more Dems end up being kicked out of office since they seem to be the party of personal responsibility these days.
