Commutation is way different than a Pardon. Commutation means that the crime occurred and they were guilty and now they spend time on parole. ---

Commuting Peter’s sentence would not be a passive act. It would require Polis taking action to please DJT, therefore it is evil. ---

I’d be OK with saying that election-related crimes, whether state or federal, cannot be pardoned or commuted by anyone at any level. Otherwise there’s no incentive at all for local election officials to be honest. since they can just count on a pardon. It may be that the threat of hard time is the only way we maintain any sort of election integrity. ---
