I’m not bent out of shape. I’m able to separate this from real life. I’m not a dude. I didn’t realize the trailer-park comment was so offensive to you, but I’m not here to argue about who shot first. **Wang-Ka** is a gentleman and a scholar, and I don’t blame him for being frustrated at your inability to understand his posts. **It all hinges on his being in Texas, where they don’t have unions.** Did you really not get **that**? ---

I certainly meant no disrespect for people who live in prefabricated houses. Lived in a couple myself, from time to time. And it is better to own your own house than to pay rent to the bank. I did, however, feel that if I’m gonna diss somebody, I can do it more creatively than simply saying, “You’re an asshole. Suck my dick. Fuck you.” Pfffft. Did you make those up yourself, or did you read them somewhere? I do find it kind of interesting that **blowero** becomes angry because he doesn’t understand what I’m talking about, largely because he can’t be bothered to read most of what I’m saying, but then instantly pounces on one obscure remark about trailers, then instantly assumes I’m dissing him. Other states have differing laws on the topic as well; IIRC, California allows union activity, but prohibits “strikes” in the traditional sense, except during the summer (I may be wrong on this one, so don’t hold me to it; it might not be California, but some other state). Everyone still with me? I’m pretty sure I’m still making sense, here, but do let me know if I suddenly collapse into incoherence. Oh, and what does all this have to do with some coach humiliating a kid? ---

If you’re interested in what _really_ happened, it was more like Master Wang-Ka, who thinks his shit don’t smell (to the point that he puts “Master” in his screen name:rolleyes: ), started posting a bunch of prissy whiny comments feigning exasperation because a couple people took issue with his blanket declaration that unions don’t exist in Texas. Yeah, the Texas union doesn’t _do_ anything, they just “lobby the state and federal government” and “become involved on the local level, when necessary or advisable, particularly when protecting individual teachers from malfeasance, unfairness, etc., by local administrations or school boards.” Kinda like what a UNION does? I’ve known some terrific coaches even as a very awkward student and later as an English teacher. Judge each on her or his merits. The coach or coaches responsible for humiliating this child have violated professional ethics. At the very least, official reprimands should be placed in their files and they should be suspended without pay. If I had my way, they would never work with kids again. ---

Large print, short, easily understood statement. Let’s see if that sinks in. I used the term “advocacy groups” because it more accurately reflects what they actually do. It seems to me very different from unions as I have understood them and dealt with them in other states. There are no meetings to speak of (although conventions do happen), dues are handled very differently, there is no on-site ombudsman, and a great many other differences I could point out from my previous experiences with unions, most notably the fact that there are a great MANY of these groups, and membership tends to flow pretty freely, as teachers get bent with one, and move to another. There are substantial differences and I’ve said as much. More than once, now, I might add. Now, if you insist on wildly misinterpreting my statements, and insisting that they are quotes… well… go ahead. It’s not like I can stop you. However, I should point out that \*I’m not the one who winds up looking foolish \* when it turns out that what _you_ thought was a quote …_wasn’t._ No doubt, though, this will be offset by your generous and unsubtle use of profanity. Hey, works for me. Not that _I_ particularly care what you think, but I’d hate to have anyone else reading this thread think that you were **quoting me** , as opposed to quoting whatever sideways interpretation is spinning around between _your_ ears. **You are NOT quoting me**. Kindly do not speak for me, sir. Particularly if, as you have said earlier, you do not understand what I’m talking about. Apparently, my attitude gets on your nerves. Wonder how you’d feel if I chose to violently dispute _your_ word about circumstances associated with _your_ job, in _your_ state – circumstances I know nothing about? But, hey, far be it from me to interfere with your right to an opinion. I _know_ what the situation is, as far as teachers’ unions in Texas, regardless of whether or not _you_ believe it. Just make sure you **quote me accurately** , if you’re going to insist that you know more about it than I do, okay? Otherwise, I will feel entitled, in future posts, to remark about how **blowero** said that we should force-feed all the gay people all the nuclear waste and send them to fight in Iraq, or something equally asinine. Then again, no I won’t. That’s a cheap shot. I would be **intentionally lying** , as opposed to **spreading false information out of misunderstanding, poisonous attitude, and apparent stubbornness** , and I’m a better man than that. Isn’t there _fucking management_ too? \*Fucking Administration? \* Or is that some business course I could be taking at a local college? But it would be fucking hard, since the fucking District lets that particular fucking division list all part time faculty as fucking STAFF in the fucking catalog regardless of how many fucking years they’ve taught there, which makes it fucking nearly impossible to find the fucking instructor for the fucking courses.
