- John the Baptist is in the Christian New Testament. I don’t know that the Jewish people care about him.
- He was the head of a schism cult that, while popular during its time, wasn’t necessarily mainstream Judaism. The descendants of it, the Mandaeans, are pretty decidedly different from Judaism.
