Yesterday I went in to the relatively newly-opened Wendy’s here at work. They have one of those single-nozzle soda fountains with the touch screen. One of the options was “Coca-Cola Orange.” Having never seen or heard of that before I gave it a shot. . . . . . . . . . If you were guessing it tasted just like Coke mixed with Orange Fanta, you’d be _exactly_ right. The machine also had “Coca-Cola Raspberry,” but I didn’t try it. Tried anything unusual in the soft drink department lately? ---

Orlando just opened up a World of Coke. They have a bar at the top of the store which includes a flight of Cokes from around the world, but, even better, they have a float flight. Coke, Cherry Coke, Orange Fanta, Grape Fanta, Root Beer, Sprite, Mr. Pibb and Red Creme Soda but all floats. They were all quite good except for Grape. Tasted like children’s medicine…Yuck! ---

Here in North Carolina they have a regional soda called Cheerwine that is wildly popular. It’s similar (but better IMO) to Dr. Pepper. They recently came out with a limited edition collaboration with another local favorite… Krispy Kreme donuts! That’s right. Donut-flavored cherry soda. Not as cringe-inducing as you’d think. Comes off like a cherry cream soda. Way too sweet for me to drink more than a few sips, but interesting. ---

**Walmart** has naturally flavored sparkling water in 1-liter bottles. Zero sugar, no caffeine, no calories, no sodium. I’ve been drinking Golden Peach; it’s pretty good. Week before last, they started stocking Orange Cream (sickle)–Yowzah! They have many other flavors. ---

For the life of me I still do not understand why Coke still makes all these goofy flavors (Orange, Lime, Vanilla etc.) and yet they retired Coke with Lemon years ago?!? Every restaurant and bar you go into and order a Coke, it always comes with a piece of lemon. It’s the default cola fruit-garnish\*!\* ---

Visiting my in-laws in Louisville, upon my very first visit to an actual White Castle (I’m in DC/Maryland) their fountain had a curious soda I’d never seen before: Big Red. At the time I described it to my wife as cream soda with a stick of Fruit Stripe gum in it. It wasn’t _amazing_, but I’d have it again given the opportunity. ---

Have wanted to hit up Legoland too (wife wants to go to Harry Potter). I’ll will add that to the list. I’ll try to smuggle in some rum. 😉 . ---

They’re called [Coca-Cola Freestyle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coca-Cola_Freestyle), apparently. I figured there were so many different possible flavors that the machine couldn’t have separate syrups for all of them, and the Wikipedia article confirms; there’s Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, etc., and the various flavorings are mixed in on the fly. And according to that page, Coke with lemon should be allowed, unless the machine is out of lemon. ---

The first time I saw one of those types of soda machines I was so amazed by it I felt like a rube just off the turnip truck. I like vanilla and cherry coke zeros on those. ---

The Fuji Apple, Mandarin Orange, and Cherry Limeade ones are fantastic too. Other Half loves the Lemon ones, but I’m meh about those. ---

When the marshmallow hit the carbonated liquid it practically turned into a geyser. Kids would order this because it was messy, and a PITA for the help, usually their friends working the fountain. I doubt if they could ever get THAT into a bottle. 😃 ---

I recently visited and see that another soft drink brand I remember fro my childhood is back (or did they ever leave?) **Faygo**. Similar to Big Red is their Redpop flavor. They also had 12 packs of: Rock N’ Rye. Root Beer. Diet Redpop. Diet Rock N’ Rye. Diet Root Beer. Cotton Candy. Orange. ---

My dad had a buckle factory and he would use Coke to get rust off of metal . He didn’t let us kids drink soda so only had coke once in a Rum and coke drink and hated it . ---
