I was thinking we could do a new sequential threads where you only use threads started by the same poster. 1a and 1b are like that because 1a was started when I was composing this thread and I’m not renumbering the entire post. In the first seven slots in GQ we have these 3 started today 12/22/209: \*\* 1a. does Fedex or any other business offer a “dropbox” service with a temporary address? 1b. Amish agriculture - could it be more efficient with more tech and less Amish rules? 2. when Amish young people leave, what do they do, careerwise? 3. what happens if Fedex tries to deliver when I am absent? should I somehow warn them?\*\* A bit farther down from today 12/22/2009: **4. pricing and availability subject to change. what does this mean? 5. why didn’t the New York “Chinese bus” expand massively against Greyhound? 6. what kept Mormons in Utah after persecution ended? was economy great? did Church ask them to stay?** A bit farther down 12/19/2009: **7. what’s the marginal cost of stay in homeless shelter? why don’t they grow into flophouses? 8. how high should oil prices get for sea shipping to switch to coal? can this realistically happen?** A bit farther down 12/20/2009: **9. if you access a machine with an expensive app via GoToMyPc/etc, what says the law?** Back to 12/19/2009 \*\*10. could groceries store or Walmart get much more efficient by getting rid of the big hall? 11. what is the expected pay-off of school education in rural Africa? \*\* Now for page 2 starting with 12/18/2009: \*\*12. why weren’t there for-profit hurricane evacuators during Katrina? \*\* Back to 12/19/2009: **13. are paper products for schools cheap in poor countries?** Back to 12/18/2009: **14. what kind of malicious things can be distributed in .doc and .xls files? 15. what does artistic/drawing skill talent distribution look like in general population? 16. can additional contracts be used to defeat the spirit of tenant protection rules?** On to the next on 12/17/2009: **17. could Microsoft address the threat of keyloggers, screenshot takers etc on OS policy level?** Next 12/16/2009: **18. how does child mortality and population growth work in rural Africa?** Next 12/15/2009: **19. is internet metered in 3rd world countries? and do they have WAP style websites? 20. what will Amazon do if asked for 1000 gadgets? do they ship in bulk?** Next 12/14/2009: \*\*21. how hard is it to get a loan secured by “liquid” inventory? \*\* Next 12/13/2009: **22. why hospitals are allowed to use zero wage volunteers and businesses are not?** I stop at this point. We have 7 new threads in GQ for today at this point. ---
