# Coheed and Cambria: lyrics from recent SC dissents

I know there are a couple Coheed fans out there so in case you haven’t seen this yet, they did a song based on the text of the real dissents of the recent ACA and marriage equality rulings. It turns out to be pretty much [exactly their style](http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/328728bb97/coheed-and-cambria-sing-antonin-scalia-s-dissenting-opinions) of lyrics. After a few spins it becomes just another song by them, so I want to call it a name. I hereby dub it “I Dissent”.

Hmmm, either their second or third album, whichever album you’ve heard songs off of that you like, either “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3”, which is more Alternative Metal and has the Rush-like song “Favour House Atlantic”, or the followup album “Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV Part 1” which contains the also-famous song “Welcome Home”, and is sort of a mix between classic metal and alt-metal, also containing some acoustic jams similar to the above link. I’m not really a fan of the albums after that. If you’re into post hardcore or emo their first album Second Stage Turbine Blade is another good one, but I’d say their second or third albums are the best to start out.

Second Stage Turbine Blade is my favorite, but it sounds more like Shabutie’s last album than Coheed’s first. (Shabutie changed their name and style when Claudio decided to base the band around the sci-fi graphic novel he was writing.) So while SSTB is my favorite, it isn’t the best introduction because it sounds a bit different than the rest of the band’s work.

[No World For Tomorrow](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Apollo,_I%27m_Burning_Star_IV,_Volume_Two:_No_World_for_Tomorrow) is probably what I’d recommend to newbies. It has “Running Free”, “Feathers”, and “Mother Superior”, all fan favorites and easy introductions to their sound.

I’m also a fan of their Afterman albums that came out last year. All their stuff is great. Year of the Black Rainbow is probably my least favorite album of theirs overall but it has some of my favorite tracks.
