How does the U.S. Mint go about circulating currency after coining it? Specifically they go to Federal Reserve Banks. When a regular old bank needs some new coins, they order some and an armored truck rolls up with a whole lot of new coins. The Federal Reserve distributes both new bills and new coins, but they don’t make either of them.
