When a friend of mine switched from regular Coke to Diet Coke (as a concession to an attempted diet) he always had it with a slice of lime, which he claimed made it tolerable to drink. ---

I’ve made a point of buying “Mexican” coke over the standard version, but I’ve never done a taste test. All I know is an ice cold bottle really hit the spot on a hot day. I wish Pepsi would bring back the “1893” line. The ginger version was a favorite of mine. ---

I haven’t tried a blind test. I drank a canned Coke at a friends house a few weeks ago. It tasted a little off. I wouldn’t say it tasted bad. Just different. I was focused on helping with a DIY project. ---

I think its pretty common knowledge can.vs. bottle makes them taste differently. Get a can. Get a coke glass. I think they insist that is the right shape. Fill it with good cubed ice. Pour your can of coke over and it will be perfect. 😉 Probably enough to share with your sweetie. If you’re real industrious find a can with their name on it..Double brownie points! “Share a smile” (look at me, hawking coke, and all) ---

I have pretty much eliminated soda from my life. Coke was always my go to. If I’m in a Mexican restaurant I will have a coke. To my tastes nothing goes with Chinese food like a Coke. Beyond that it’s either water or unsweetened iced tea for me. ---

I think the only blind taste tests I’ve done are alcohol. I suspect I’d be able to tell coke vs mexican coke vs coke zero vs pepsi, but I guess that’s just a hunch. I’ve heard, but am not sure it’s not an urban legend, that the average person can’t even tell red wine from white by taste alone. If that’s true, and I doubt it, then it would explain not being able to tell the difference between colas too. ---

If you go to Cuba, they have no Coca-Cola due to the 1962 sanctions. They have the national brand, Tukola, which is made with cane sugar. When I raved about it, one of my students suggested maybe it was the cocaine I was liking so much. ---

I perceive the Mexican Coke to have a different mouth feel and even after taste, but I can’t trust my own judgment here.
