# Cold weather makes you sick

Its been a cold December. There a homeless people in the city. They get sick because of the cold. What exactly about being cold makes someone ill? Why do people never seem to get sick when its warm?

I’ve always thought coldness somehow affects the bodies ability to be healthy;somehow affects its resistence. Why, though, I wonder.

I WAG that it takes more energy to maintain your core body temperature when it’s cold, thereby taking away resources from your immune system.
