I was not viewing it for gratification. I was viewing it to check the smileywords were correct, and for any replies, and to test that my link in this thread worked, and because a poster is more likely to check his own post than others etc etc bloody etc.

It’d be a damn-sight better than the shit I get. Anyway - I have no choice but to recieve spam. I DO have a choice when it comes to clicking on sdmb posts. And if a post takes too long I can always press the stop button or close the window. And if it crashes my browser I know not to click on it again.

Yes, but for those of us who don’t know what the fuck it was, clicking may have revealed something mundne and pointless, not idiotic.
A post that has a title like yours does not reflect its content. If you had titled it more acurately, then maybe so many people wouldn’t have been pissed off.
Maybe something like **I’m bored … a thousand smilies ahead** and then people could make a choice about clicking your link of idiocy.

Hmmm… when an image is repeated many, many times over, doesn’t the browser just repeatedly source the image from the cache the first time it was downloaded? If so, it’s not really a bandwidth stealer is it?

Your cache already has it, so it gets put on the screen quickly from cache. The server doesn’t know about your cache, so it has to send it all.
