Few things piss me off more nowadays than this “new age defence” which states that a person who has acted like an asshole towards someone else thereupon has some sort of mitigating circumstance which absolves them of personal responsibility simply because they too were once the subject of assholish behaviour. All of us are responsible for our own behaviour, and to portray one’s self as a victim merely to excuse one’s own lack of graciousness is a bullshit excuse for mine. ---

I can see that Andy overreacted to the OP and took it too seriously, but how cuauhtemoc got from that to “mysogeny” is beyond me. ---

**blowero** you should check Andy’s history in the “Conservative Dopers…” thread in the Pit and “Feminist Utopian Fiction” in Cafe Society. In the first, he claimed that feminists “have long wanted a Final Solution” to create a female-only society. When asked for a cite, he claimed that feminist fiction offered such a thing. Then he started the thread in Cafe Society, where he claimed that I had said such a genre did not exist. Blatantly false: I’ve always said that I wanted a cite for his **factual claims** which he’s repeatedly refused to provide. What’s fun about the **Cafe Society** thread is the way he gets walloped by people who’ve actually read the books he only Googled. In one shining example, he rants about a book that was written in 1915, claiming that it was the product of the ‘male-bashing Seventies.’ The posters who pointed out his misogyny have tangled with him before, and remember his behavior. If you’re female and you complain about something, you’re a 'victim’whiner; if you bitch about something, you’re a ballbusting hairy legged man-hater. He’s repeatedly claimed that ‘feminists’—not extremist feminists—want to dominate men and eradicate their rights. Stuff like that tends to indicate something about him. ---

Another vote that the warning may have had just a little bit with **SAL** being an asshole. Really I would have slunk away and tried to forget the whole affair if I were you **SAL**. In a way I have to admire the moxie it takes to come back for more. ---

Regardless of all the reasons for people either liking **SAL** or not, **Coldie** took a cheap shot\* at him, imho. How else is someone to respond to what they feel is improper modding than starting a Pit thread? Especially since that thread is now closed. I an’t got a dog in this fight, I’m just wondering about the modding precedent that might be set. And I’m one of the Dopes that likes **Coldfire**. Just trying to see both sides of the issue… - by mixing a personal opinion “You’re fucking annoying” with an official moderator action, closing the thread. ---

(I thought that was pretty funny until I told my SO. **Andy** can certainly take care of himself. Doesn’t change the fact that **margin** ’s an asshole who’s far too stuck on calling people who disagree with her brand of feminism a misogynist. I think her favorite word is ‘misogynist’. She certainly uses it in excess. ---
