Are we allowed to build a campfire on the beach? That would be cool. Where would we get wood? Anyone play guitar? How 'bout harmonica? Know any Arlo Guthrie tunes? How about Skynyrd? ---

Ok, how many are going to this now? I’m too lazy to count :). Anyway, this is so exciting! It looks like a good crowd will show. And I agree, a beach party would be awesome (perhaps you can get a permit for a fire on the beach? Even the state beaches here sometimes allow bonfires). ---

There’s a beach not _too_ far from the hotel. (Dockweiler State Beach) It’s about a 10-15 minute drive on surface streets. It has bonfire pits and I think that I’d be a great way to get together on friday night for those who will be there. They don’t allow booze but, only one lifeguard patrols and you can usually hide it well. I’d be willing to supply firewood if anyone is interested. Beach closes at 10, $6 parking but, if you park on the street it’s free and you’d only have to walk down a hill to get to the beach. Anyone interested? ---

I like your thinking, Merc. Good idea! TOo bad the beach closes at 10 (well, i think the beaches here do as well…the one near my city closes 30 minutes after sunset! unless you know where to go). I’m up for this. Of course i wont be driving or anything ;). ---

10 is kinda early to break up a party, not to mention I’d rather not hide booze if possible. I’m finding it hard to believe there’s not a _regular_ beach somewhere near where we can have a fire and drink. Hell, when I was a kid growing up in San Diego we did that every weekend. It can’t have changed that much in 15-20 years. Or could it? 😉 Anyway, I think it’s time to invest a little research into this. I’ll be making some calls over the next couple weeks and see if I can find anything. **Shayna** , any ideas? I’d rather not pack everything up and head down to the beach if we have to hide our drinks (no way am I getting arrested the first day of the fest! :D) if we just have to pack it in at 10. ---
