that is a falsehood, more of the smearing.

but typical.

It was easy to find the American organization CAIR directly [blaiming and condemning](https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/world/cair-islamic-state-launching-war-on-muslims/2015/11/15/dc09eb82-8ba7-11e5-934c-a369c80822c2_video.html)DAESH, the dirty implication that the condemnations are avoiding the blaming of DAESH is a falsehood, of a deliberate fashion in some quarters.

Hezbollah has nothing to do with the terrorists plot that occurred in Paris. They are sometimes called an “extreme” Islamic and/or “paramilitary” Islamic group but the group technically does not refer to anyone or anything having to do with the actions of ISIL directly so to denounce them would be like denouncing all Southern Baptists for the idiotic lunatic ravings of one very small church that’s known for causing a big scene of controversy. Sure, some Baptist churches might also think that homosexuality is wrong BUT that does not mean they approve of protesting at a poor family’s funeral is okay. Get it? The situation we have here is even more complicated than religious extremes and variations, it’s also quite political so add in terms like Republican and Democrat to the mix and imagine those pro gun NRA tea bag people shooting at all Democrats while Jonesboro Baptist Church is throwing grenades and shooting back at the Tea Party which doesn’t even make sense, right? That’s what’s happening in Syria! Here this helps a little ~

Of course there is widespread condemnation of the attacks. And of course[CAIR is a public relations firm for Islamism fronting as a civil rights group](http://www.adl.org/israel-international/anti-israel-activity/c/the-council-on-american-islamic-relations.html#.VkqJUH6rRhE).

In an April 2009 letter to the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security, the FBI explained that it suspended contact with CAIR because of evidence introduced during the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial, demonstrating that CAIR and its founders were part of a group set up by the Muslim Brotherhood to support Hamas. The trial ended with guilty verdicts on all charges against HLF and five of its officers, including a 65 year sentence for Ghassan Elashi, the founder of CAIR’s Dallas chapter

I don’t understand what anyone hopes to accomplish by either demanding voices of condemnation or by citing them.

Let’s say, hypothetically, that 99% of Muslims were hardcore extremists and that only 1% were moderates. Let’s also say that 1 in 10,000 were leaders or scholars of some notability.

If there are 1.5B Muslims, that still leaves 1,500 people willing to speak out against the atrocity.

The fact that it’s possible to find hundreds of condemnations of a terrorist act therefore says absolutely nothing about the degree of extremism. It could be 0.01% or it could be 99%.

To be clear, the opposite is also true. Finding hundreds of calls for violence tells you absolutely nothing about the overall fraction.

Condemnation means nothing. There are far too many who are extremists. In fact this religion itself is a piece of cr@p.

Not sure what those wikipedia wall posts with no links shows here, I do not think that many here are not aware of that already. And that there are crappy ideas among many followers of that faith there; but it has to be noted that a lot of those terror attacks took place in Muslim nations too, and against other Muslims.

Do you really think their condemnation to those acts means nothing?

It’s from wikipedia’s article on [List of Islamist terrorist attacks](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Islamist_terrorist_attacks).

yes, there are attacks on other sects (like on Shias by Sunnis), or against Muslims who they will accuse of not being perfect Muslims.

condemnation means nothing unless they drastically reduce the influence of Islam on themselves.

and in the pit thread, he was very interesting in excusing all kinds of suppression of other religions in India, with direct and indirect excuses like they were originally hindu and [the rising incidents of the attacks on christians](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=18361235&highlight=christian#post18361235)were “mostly made up.”

Yes really.

it is anyway an interesting lesson of how the various expressions of the bigotry end up mirroring each other in the logic and the expression, whether if they come from a muslim, a christian or some other.

for the bigotted crowd they conclude that it is all pretend and anyway muslims = evil so anyway bad (or they hate the Sin and ‘love’ the sinner…- I borrow from **Miller** ).

So we muslims have not condemend DAESH, we did not do it in whatever changing form (not on one foot, hopping, not in the pig latin, etc). Or anyway the person knows we did not use the right name or in the Arabic it was hidden somehow, they know this even though tthey do not speak the Arabic. It is the conclusion foregone.
