College Drinking Deaths

It’s a lot harder to kill yourself on beer than hard liquor - most people’s stomachs simply can’t hold enough to cause death, you will throw it up before your bloodstream has absorbed enough alcohol to be fatal. The equivelant in beer of 21 shots is more than two gallons. Hard to drink that much all at once.

…not to mention that a beer is only going to be 4% alcohol (on average)…certainly enough water to dilute any significant alcohol. Wine is only going to be in the neighborhood of 8-10% (and how many times do we see kids buying wine to get drunk off of?) 21 shots (at the standard 1 1/2 ounce shot) would be roughly a fifth of liquor (12 oz. of beer is 341 mL, which would be 8 standard shots…16 shots in 2 beers…so my guess should be more or less correct). That depends on what you’re drinking as well…if you decide to be macho and drink something such as Bacardi 151 then you are certainly going to throw the scale even more off!!!

When I was 14 or 15 I used to drink Mad Dog because it was the cheapest thing available. This may not be technically wine but it’s the next best thing to drunks and teenagers.

That is true…Mad Dog/Thunderbird is certainly a good way to get plowed quickly. However, I was really referring to the fact that 17 year olds are surely not going to appreciate the wonderous complexities of wine as it so truly deserves!!
