Many teams are playing several levels down. It is too early to get fired up. The BCS has encouraged teams to beat up on lesser programs to pad stats and avoid a crucial loss. Michigan has scored easily this year. But U of M fans can see the defense is not very good. The pass defense is not very good. If weak teams demonstrate that , the big teams will exploit it. They can score well enough to snatch victory from more complete teams though. ---

Did you see Dre Kirkpatrick’s circus catch-and-double-tap to ice the game? Very athletic play. Also, hard-earned = 1. holding Arkansas to 120 total yards in the second half after hemorrhaging yardage the first. 2. Controlling the ball on several tough, slogging drives, like that 8:15 long drive that put Bama back in it for real. 3. A team deciding they didn’t want to lose after all, and going out without panic and making it happen. ---

UCF dominated 4-0 Kansas State for 58 minutes before standing and watching as they marched down the field for a go-ahead touchdown on their final possession. Would have been our biggest win ever (K State are just outside the Top 25). ---

Exact scenario played out in Cal @ Arizona. Total defensive slugfest for 58 minutes, with Cal ahead 3 FG’s to 1. But Cal missed a 40 yarder with 2 minutes left, and us long-suffering Bears knew exactly what was going to happen…let AZ march down the field for the game-winning TD. ---
