# College Football Helmets

How do they keep cloge football helmets looking so good? My experience from HS is that they got roughed up pretty quickly. Do they repaint them every week? Use new ones?

That would depend on the athletic budget.

College teams use different helmets during practices also and that probably keeps some of the wear and tear down.

IIRC, Notre Dame re-paints their helmets every week.

I’m sure Notre Dame can afford the paint jobs. Probably all of the D-IA teams can afford.

I did hear that each Notre Dame helmet has a fleck of real gold in the paint.
