Anonymous I always used neutral polish for my final coats and touch ups. It is like a clear coat on cars. Added a nice bit of depth, and reduced the amount of black polish getting on the edge of the trousers.
I’m no longer in the service either, but I still spit shine my work shoes. A brush shine looks nice, but spit shined shoes are just plain sharp.
As I understood it, black-glass toe-caps are only possible using the above polish/water/heat method AFTER the factory coating is stripped off with shaving cream. Otherwise the pores will not fill properly with polish.
You did do that first, right?
Wow! Thanks guys for all of your help. Lol, a tampon… I didnt know they had MULTIPLE uses… Being a girl, course I knew about the one but, huh.
