Just lately I’ve been noticing some songs that use the term ‘Boo’. Just exactly what does it mean and where did it come from? “When I’m with my Boo, I just think of you…” ---

Maybe someone didn’t know how to pronounce _beau_. Although long before rap was big I remember “Boo” used as a term of endearment. It was short for “Boo-boo bear”. I think he was Yogi’s “bottom”. ---

Back in 1971, the band Lobo had a big #5 U.S. hit with “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo”. Those were innocent times – we never suspected a thing. ---

I just saw _Monsters, Inc._ Sully called the little girl “Boo” because that’s what she said to him. I think it’s a baby talk term that became a generalized term of endearment. FWIW, I call my brother **Billdo** Boo all the time.
