I’ve been reading reviews of the new movie from the Farrelly brothers, _Stuck on You_. The movie is about a pair of conjoined twins, played by Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear. The reviews have been pretty positive, and the movie may be funny as hell, but what puzzles me is that not a single review I’ve seen mentions the obvious fact that **conjoined twins are identical**. I have to assume that having them played by actors who don’t even look like brothers, let alone identical twins, was a deliberate comedic decision, but _nobody seems to be commenting on it_. Am I missing something? (On the other hand, apparently some folks think it’s ridiculously PC to say “conjoined twins” instead of “Siamese twins”. I’m not really sure what their problem is with using an accurate medical term rather than a slang expression derived from 19th century show business.) So, has anybody seen the movie yet? ---

If I didn’t hate Greg Kinnear with the intensity of 20 exploding TV sets, I might go see it. ---

No, I haven’t seen this movie and will not, I really hate the premise, and from what I have seen from the trailer and commericials, it looks like it Sucks Ass. ---

Am I missing something?** Yep, you’re missing the _NY Times_ review: “Walt has less of their liver than Bob — it’s how the movie explains why a separation surgery would be risky, since there’s only a 50-50 chance that Walt would survive. (It’s also the excuse for Walt looking older; Mr. Kinnear is seven years Mr. Damon’s senior, but that doesn’t explain why he seems to be wearing Jeff Daniels’s hair from Dumb and Dumber.)” And the _Village Voice_: " . . . a comedy about conjoined twins, played by the preposterously unidentical Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear . . ." ---

I swear that in the early stages it was supposed to be Matt Damon and Woody Allen as conjoined twins. ---

Oh…I thought this thread was going to be about other comedic conjoined twins, not a gripe about these ones… Well, dammit, I have two examples and I’ll be damned if I’m not going to mention them! Raleigh and Raymond Friend played the Hurry Up Twins in David Lynch’s short-lived series [On The Air](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103505/combined), and the Original Hilton Sisters, Daisy and Violet, didn’t live to see their melodrama/semi-biopic [Chained For Life](http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0043397/combined) re-edited by [Night Flight](http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0283764/combined) into a Twin Peaks parody, “Twin Geeks.” ---

[small hijack] But, wait a minute- those conjoined twins they always showed on the talk show circuit, the ones joined at the head… Lori and Dori or something. They aren’t anywhere near identical. What’s the medical reasoning for that? [/small hijack] In response to your last question, I hate to say this, but I have yet to see a Farrelly movie I liked. I’ll probably just avoid this one. ---

Identical twins can look much less alike as they age, even if they’re not conjoined. ---
