Rod Rosenstein put out a cryptic [statement](http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/deputy-attorney-general-rod-rosenstein-tells-americans-to-be-skeptical-of-anonymous-sources/article/2626174) this evening that has the speculation machine churning that something is gonna break: "_Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations."_ ---

running coach, you’re wildly off base here. Innocent people can and often should remain silent, hire good lawyers, and take full advantage of the protections guaranteed them by our Constitution. Your arguments trashing them for doing so are short-sighted and dumb. ---

I think the statement is about the already-printed story claiming that Trump is under investigation for obstruction, which was sourced to “officials,” the same word Rosenstein mentions. The speculation I’ve read is that someone ordered him to put out a statement denying the story, and this is the most truthful thing he could come up with. ---

Of course, being investigated is not, by itself, a big hairy ass deal. But he made it one by trying to get people to deny it. Otherwise, its just the start of something, or the start of nothing. Got a nickel says its _gonna be_ something, but right now, no. ---
