Has anyone here had their comics rated by the CGC? Is it worth it? There are a few comics in my possession that are worth roughly five hundred to a thousand dollars. One of them is the first appearance of Thor. I’ve heard that having your comics rated will actually increase their value, but you have to send them away to be rated and they get sealed up so that afterward you can’t really read them again. I’m just trying to figure out the pros and cons of CGC rating. Any input is appreciated. ---

[/QUOTE] I’ve never had my comics graded, but if you’re interested in them for resale value, why would you be reading them? That causes damage which hurts the value. ---

Be aware that CGC grades VERY strictly. So before you send off that comic that is worth $500 in what you perceive to be VF condition, ask yourself whether it will have been worth the cost if CGC returns the book to you graded VG-.
