I really don’t mind admitting to less than serious taste in music, but I don’t like to shout it from the roof top either. I love Top 40 pop/rock from the mid 60’s to the early 80s. I like 70’s disco too. Why do people hate this music? Stop taking it so seriously. It was never meant to be heavy or hip. Just fun party music. Calm down disco haters. IMHO, it’s almost a cliche to hate it. Carpenters, The Bee Gees, and The Beach Boys used to be played at low volume in the privacy of the closet. Not now. Crank it up. Hell, The Beach Boys, and The Bee Gees are in the Roll Hall of Fame. ---

Once when a female friend and I were drunk and depressed, we sang along with Total Eclipse of the Heart. I have the single, because of that. Circumstances can make any song poignant. ---

Many of you have mentioned people/bands that I listen to, so I do not feel too bad: John Denver, ABBA, KC and the Sunshine Band, the Monkees… The other day, there was an advertisement for old hip-hop music like MC Hammer, Kriss Kross, Coolio, Digital Underground, etc…and I turned to Ray and said quietly, “You know what is weird? I would never admit this to anyone I know, but I like this music sometimes.” Ray actually felt the same way! Hehe… Oh yeah…I love “Jump Around” by House of Pain. ---

i have almost all of Billy Joel’s albums I am going to get\* The Millennium Concert\* and i need a new copy of _Songs In The Attic_! I also have gotten my hands on those 80’s compilations which is right under the _Family Values Tour 1999_ cd in the rack. ---

Ahhhh. I was just about to admit I am listening to Dean Martin right now, ‘Canadian Sunset’ I downloaded off napster. Also Gilbert O’Sullivan. Teddy Pendergrass, especially ‘This Ones For You’, the old Barry Manilow tune! I love 60’s and 70’s soul, not that that’s so embarrassing. Then again my cousin still listens to the Partridge Family! ---

like almost everyone else here, i have ecclectic tastes, everything from the smiths to jeff buckely to chris whitley to guns and roses. but i have a special place, buried deep in my heart, for those cheesy 80s bands. duran duran men without hats kajagoogoo lisa lisa and cult jam wham any time one of those god-awful 80s songs comes on the radio, i can’t help but sing my head off, and i can’t carry a tune in a bucket. there’s something to be said for mindless fun. ---

I don’t have any idea why, but somewhere in my little head hanging out in the shadows behind the **Black Flag** , **Velvet Underground** and **Dolly Parton** records, is a song I’m completely obsessed by: “I’m Gonna Be 500 Miles” by the amazing **Proclaimers**. It’s completely bewildering to me too. ---

I listen to a lot of the stuff already mentioned. Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Bee Gee’s… But I have a confession to make…I like Ray Stevens. Not just his funny stuff, but his sappy songs too. Misty is my favorite, but Mr. Business man is good too. There, I said it, and I feel much better now. ---
