They sell plenty of 3rd party accessories. I assume no reputable saw chain manufacturer would provide products in their price/profit margin range, and saw chains are available at reasonable prices from other retailers.

I see that they also sell a chain replacement for the Portland 18" chain saw they carry. It’s not available in stores though, must be ordered. The saw is made by Oregon Tool, a major chain saw and saw chain supplier, and replacement chains are available at many hardware and tool outlets.

> Which means I need pants with a big waist and short inseam. So I usually resort to buying pants that are too long and rolling up the bottom cuffs. (I wish I was more handy with sewing to actually hem them.)

I’ve had that same problem (not so much now that I’ve lost some weight). I once walked into a men’s clothing department and after looking around for a while finally walked up to a clerk and asked, rather loudly, “Where do you keep your fat-ass pants?”

I finally found Martin’s Big & Tall, which carried full-cut pants with a wider range of waist and inseam combinations. I also shopped at Habands online, which also offered pants with large waists and short inseams. Unfortunately, they seem to have gone out of business, or at least greatly limited their online presence.

I did recently have to shorten some casual pants, and found that Gorilla Fabric Glue works nicely in lieu of sewing up hems.

I hear you! When I lived in Hollywood (really, I did) in the 80’s, there were 2! 24 hour newsstands that carried books and out of state newspapers. Now even libraries don’t carry them.

For groceries around these parts, we have Walmart and Kroger.

I much prefer Kroger. _But_, Kroger doesn’t carry 12 oz. bags of broccoli florets, and Walmart does. I love them, because I can throw them in the microwave for three minutes and - presto - freshly steamed broccoli. I eat two or three bags a week. So _just_ because of this, I more-often shop at Walmart vs. Kroger.

> (\*) I’m in Canada, so to me, a “deli” is a sit-down restaurant with a menu and table service (see, e.g. Toronto’s chain of Pickle Barrel delis). A “bodega” is completely unknown. A “newsstand” is newspapers and magazines, usually found in train and subway stations; maybe some candy but nothing else (though airport newsstands will offer more). A candy store is where you go to get your girlfriend a box of chocolates (see, e.g. Laura Secord’s). If you just want to buy her an Aero bar, or a Coffee Crisp, you go to … the corner store.

I grew up in New York, and a candy store had some candy, but also comic books, magazines, and model kits. And newspapers, of course. I don’t recall if they had magazines, I think so.
Airport newstands these days are 20% papers and magazines at best.
I grew up before convenience stores like WaWas and 7-11s were a thing,

Here in Massachusetts, I can’t find anchovy rolled fillets, just flat ones. This seems to be a recent development. The rolled ones are much better for salads.

> When I was younger, all corner stores had a magazine rack. Comics, Time, Life, Redbook, Esquire, comic books, and so on. The magazine rack was huge. Today, my local corner store sells daily newspapers and that’s it for reading material.

It used to be that, if I was waiting for a prescription to be filled at the drug store, I could wander over to the magazine rack and leaf through an issue of Maclean’s or Scientific American. But now the drug store magazine rack only has weird stuff like “Time Magazine’s salute to Taylor Swift” or “the latest news and rumors about Pokemon”; who’s buying those?

Amazon has them.

Walmart lists them as in stock in my local. Check the stock if the stores in your area.

The decline of print media is sad but hardly baffling. It’s direct competition from online sources, something that just didn’t exist back in the day. I’m certain that once upon a time fans of live bands deplored how once upon a time you could go listen live to the biggest names in music, and now everyone just plays records.

Now, I don’t know Maclean’s, but I’ve never seen Scientific American or anything like it on a drugstore or supermarket magazine rack. I would see that sort of magazine at the very large newsstands that also had foreign magazines and newspapers back when that sort of newstand existed. Maybe in airports or transit hubs. But supermarkets and drugstores in my experience always had only mass market and puzzle magazines.

Noosa seasonal apple pie yogurt.

Is it too much to ask for stores other than Target to stock the apple pie flavor? Why is it only at Target and why is Target always out of it?

I sure don’t know, but the answer _has_ to be: “Enough people to make it pay off for the folks writing, printing, transporting, and displaying that crap.”

My own comments:
The OP is about 18 months old now. My own experience is that the problem of obvious merchandise that you know exists and is commonly sold just being absent from this or that store has gotten worse. While the so-called supply chain problems post-COVID are largely over.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Target & Noosa have an exclusive deal for that flavor.

It’s starting to be a thing; I remember visiting a Smith’s grocery in Bozeman, MT this summer, and seeing a 7up Tropical flavor and speculating that it was some sort of thing only available in Montana, or maybe that part of the country.

Nope, it’s just an exclusive deal with Kroger/Smith’s/Fred Meyer/Fry’s/King Soopers/Ralph’s/etc.. for the tropical flavor. We don’t shop at our local Kroger because they’ve got issues with expiration dates and spoiled food, so I never knew it existed until on vacation.
