I don’t recall if there ever was a rule requiring permission before starting a Dopefest thread (I certainly didn’t ask for any of the ones I started, even before becoming a mod), but you don’t need permission now. That post, and the same disclaimer sticky you see at the top of the forum now (as well as the original one from 2002), are really meant as a warning to the readers that the SDMB and/or Reader are not officially involved with any get-togethers. ---

Does junior modding people about post-padding count as post-padding? 'Cause I’m totally not doing that. 😛 (Seriously - I didn’t notice the thread before either. It’s weird how stickies are actually \*less \*noticeable to me, because they don’t move much. If \*\*SkipMagic \*\*had just started a regular thread, I would have noticed it weeks ago, I expect. There may be a moral there. Or not.) ---

I’m not sure I really even understand the purpose of post padding, let alone why there would be questions about it. It is simply not allowed, period. Carry on then. ---

[/QUOTE] Some people – not on this board of course, but rumour has it that there are other boards on the internets – like to have very large post counts, or start threads with very large numbers of replies. If you can’t think of anything useful to say, you can keep those numbers rolling by just posting useless stuff. Not that I’ve ever done such stuff, at least, not since I’ve grown up 😃 ---
